I've actually got a lot less experience with
stateful autoconfig issues (esp in v6).
So I defer to your judgement in this case.

Is there someone who has experience with
DHCPv6 who may be able to provide some
stronger insight here?

I've put a thread from the DHC-WG on the
reading list.  Are issues and previous
work deeper than were seen there?
