I think that the aim is to provide an informational
document which can be used to provide some
background for those using/implementing hints for DNA.
There is some existing work on Link-layer hints
(under the disguise of L2 Triggers) from
IP mobility groups such as Mobileip and Seamoby.
(I think Alper has been involved heavily there).
If we need to provide guidelines on using these
hints or an API (never popular at IETF), then I
think we'll have to determine requirements.
At this stage, I'm guessing that there's value in
surveying the existing systems to see if there is
a consistent set of hints which are available on
these systems.
