Contrary to IETF orthodoxy, not all routers which will
give you an address will also carry your packets to Yahoo.

Maybe you'll just have to AAA yourself locally first:
eg: your coffee-shop assigned IP address may require you
to pay $5 (or just buy a coffee) in order to become routable.
Lots of hotels with IPv4 access are like this ... you
can DHCP an adderss, but you have to phone the front desk
and get 'activated' in order to route traffic[*].

Or maybe this connection is being allowed for a specific
purpose ... your PDA is getting an IPv6 address so that
it can receive announcements in your preferred language,
but there's no intention to let you access the Internet
from there.[#]

To pick a real-world parallel: here in .au, if your phone is
'disconnected' for non-payment, you can still call 000
(emergency). Also, if you're not an established customer
of the phone company, they may allow you to make
local calls, but not expensive international ones until
you _phone_ them and arrange a deposit.
