[DNA-BOF] Charter Amendment Proposals (Terminology).

Hi,

JinHyeock and I have been trying to determine
some canonical terms for DNA so that they can
be used in a DNAv6 problem statement (and
hopefully in other places too).


We've come to the point where we're
satisfied that the following statements are
correct and fairly unambiguous (although there
may be better ways of stating some things...
you may have some ideas).

1. Network Attachment
Network Attachment occurs when a link-layer connection
is established  and a node is able to send and receive
some IP packets within a link, particularly those used
for configuration purposes.

2. Internet Connectivity
Internet Connectivity occurs when a node is able to
send packets to arbitrary internet destinations.


What we're interested in is distinguishing between the
capabilities expected from a host upon network attachment
and upon completion of configuration procedures subsequent
to DNA.

If the description of Network Attachment is OK, we would
probably have to update the first paragraph of the charter
as follows:

Current Version:

Network Attachment occurs when an interface has
completed link-layer connection procedures and becomes
ready to send and receive IP datagrams.  This process may
occur when link-layer authentication has completed, a
host comes back into range of a wireless cell, or a
cable is plugged in.

Proposed Version:

Network Attachment occurs when a link-layer connection
is established and a node is able to send and receive
some IP packets within a link, particularly those used
for configuration purposes.  This process may occur
when link-layer authentication has completed, a host
comes back into range of a wireless cell, or a cable is
plugged in.

I don't think there are any other changes required
for the description before we can do a BoF Last Call.

Also, I think that we're able to amalgamate the IPv6 DAD
optimization Requirements and Problem Statements draft
into a goals one.

Daniel and Youn-Hee have already shown that these can
be effectively combined.
