The DT considered having a designated "fast responder" and rejected the idea
based on the need for configuration. The algorithm described in
draft-pentland doesn't require configuring any router to be the fast
responder. This has two benefical effects: 1) it removes the possibility of
error and need for additional human attention which makes network management
easier, 2) it removes problems if the designated fast responder crashes or
is taken offline.
