I'm late in responding to this thread (due to a vacation), but
original question was whether there's an objection to removing
the link down indication from the DNA document. To answer
that question we do not need to conclude that link down is
harmful, fundamentally different, or hopelessly broken. All
we need to know is that it is not currently needed by the
DNA mechanisms and that it has some potential issues in
some situations. Also, the use, security, and other aspects
of such indications are highly dependent on what application
you have in mind for them. As a result, I would strongly urge
that we do not include link down in the document at this
time. Lets conclude this discussion, make the changes,
ship the document, and move on.
